1. What is the Present Continuous?

The Present Continuous tense (also called Present Progressive) is used to talk about:

Actions happening right now
Actions happening around now (temporary)
Future plans or arrangements

2. How to Form the Present Continuous

✅ Subject + am/is/are + verb-ing

Subject	Verb: "eat"	Example Sentence
I	am eating	I am eating dinner.
He/She/It	is eating	She is eating a sandwich.
We/You/They	are eating	They are eating lunch now.

3. Negative Form

✅ Subject + am/is/are + not + verb-ing

I am not working today.
He is not playing football.
We are not watching TV.

4. Question Form

✅ Am/Is/Are + subject + verb-ing?

Am I talking too fast?

5. When to Use the Present Continuous

✅ Actions happening now

She is talking on the phone.
We are learning English.

✅ Temporary actions

I am staying with my aunt this week.

✅ Planned future actions

They are flying to Japan next week.

6. Signal Words

Look for time expressions that often go with Present Continuous:

now, right now, at the moment, currently, this week, today, tonight, tomorrow (for future plans)

7. Common Mistakes

- Don’t forget the -ing ending:

- Use the correct form of “to be”:
